The Computer Wore Tennis Shoes is a 1969 American science-fiction comedy produced by Walt Disney Productions, starring Kurt Russell as college student Dexter Riley. At Medfield College, Dexter and his friends persuade businessman A. J. Arno to donate a computer to their financially struggling school. During its installation, Dexter is struck by electricity during a thunderstorm and mysteriously becomes a “human computer.” He gains extraordinary abilities, including rapid calculation, speed-reading, encyclopedic memory, and the ability to learn languages almost instantly.

Dexter's abilities make him the star of a televised college quiz tournament, giving Medfield a chance to win a $100,000 prize. However, his new knowledge accidentally exposes Arno's involvement in an illegal gambling operation, leading to Dexter's kidnapping. His friends rescue him, but a concussion gradually causes his extraordinary abilities to disappear during the final competition. In the end, Dexter's teammate answers the decisive question and wins the prize, while Arno and his criminal associates are arrested. The film became the first entry in the Dexter Riley series, followed by two theatrical sequels and a 1995 television remake.
